What has sold: Toys and Games

December 1, 2016 by Kari @ She Thrifts 2 Comments

I don’t sell as many toys as I used to, and I often skip picking up games unless they are brand new/factory sealed.  (There are plenty of games out there worth picking up, but I know myself well enough to realize that if I will need to spend any amount of time checking to see if a game is complete, it will become a chore that I will procrastinate indefinitely.  Thus, it’s best to not even buy the game in the first place.)  Below are some of the toys and games I have sold recent-ish-ly.

Super Why is a good buy!  I will buy pretty much any and everything Super Why.  I picked up this small plastic (3″) toy at a yard sale over the summer, and it sold very quickly.

I love picking up Richard Scarry toys too!  (Full disclosure, I borrowed the photo below because I have apparently already deleted mine.)  I found all six of the characters in cars below in a quarter box at a yard sale over the summer.  They were all used, but in very good condition.

Paid: $1.50 @ ys, Sold: $44.95 (5 days after listed)

I don’t know a ton about the Loving Family items, but figured the car was cheap enough to make it a good bet.

101_4986  Fisher Price Loving Family Twin Car
Paid: $0.50 @ ys, Sold: $34.95 (2.5 months after listed)

It seems like Leap Frog fridge magnets abound, but I can’t remember ever coming across this particular set before.

leap-frog-2995Leap Frog Wash & Go Vehicle Set
Paid: $2.79 @ VV, Sold: $29.95 (in a little over a month)

Perfection!  I pick this up whenever I find it complete and in good condition.  I always list it for $39.95.  It takes awhile, but they always eventually sell.  I probably sell 3 or 4 sets every year.

perfection-3995Paid: $1.00 @ ys, Sold: $39.95 (several months after listing)

I still love The Office!  I bought two Office-themed games at the same time, and the other (The Office version of Clue) sold ages ago.

office-trivia-4295NEW The Office Trivia Game
Paid: $5.00 from FB, Sold: $42.95 (around 10 months after listed)

I picked up several brand new puzzles on the half-off day at a children’s consignment sale in the spring.  I think this might have been the first to actually sell.  I don’t love that they take a long time to sell, but do like that there is a decent profit on them once they do.

Paid: $2.50 @ consignment sale, Sold: $49.95 (5 months after listed)

‘Tis the season to flip toys!  Have you had any fun or exciting sales recently?

Better late than never sales

January 7, 2016 by Kari @ She Thrifts 2 Comments

Where did the last month go?  I thought I would stop in and share a few sales.

Not long before Christmas I decided to STOP procrastinating, and list a few items that I knew should sell fairly quickly (you know, if only they were actually listed).

Such as:

Handy Manny’s toolbox!  You push a button and it plays music and the front row of tools moves around.  I have sold several of these over the last couple years (and my boys have their own that I am looking forward to selling . . . eventually.)  I finally listed it on December 14, and it sold in about half an hour.

handy manny toolbox Sold: $49.95

Super Why is still a great buy!  This was a bigger Whyatt, who had a cape that moved when a button on his chest was pushed, and he also had springs on his feet.  He was also (finally!) listed on December 14, and sold the same day.

super whySold: $44.95

A 3X “ugly” (actually really cute) Christmas sweater.  Also listed on December 14, sold the next day.

better late neverSold: $24.95

So, why was I procrastinating again?  No idea.

And here’s a BOLO reminder that I have mentioned before – Thomas Duplos!  I came across a lot that was being sold on a FB group. Oddly it had been listed  for several hours when I came across the post, a decent-sized bag full, for only $5.  Why no one else had snapped it up I’ll never know, but I was happy to buy it.  I picked them up on Veterans Day, and then let my youngest play with them for a month or so.  I finally got them all listed about a week before Christmas.  I was hoping for a few last minute sales, but the first train from this lot didn’t actually sell until Christmas Day.  On the upside, every single one of the others has already sold since then.

Sold: $19.95 (7 days after listed)

gordon duplo Gordon + tender + passenger car
Sold: $39.95 (12 days after listed)

thomas duploThomas + Troublesome Truck
Sold: $39.95 (13 days after listed)

thomas duplo 2Thomas
Sold: $17.95 (18 days after listed)

And I’ve also sold a few Star Wars toys, no huge surprise.

anakin jar jar toys Paid: $1 @ ys, Sold: $39.95 (listed since late summer)

I bought around 150 costumes on Halloween clearance this year, and have already sold quite a few.  I think I must be close to recooping all of my initial investment, if I haven’t already.  I thought the costume below was cute.

stormtrooper costume 1Paid: $2.49, Sold: $24.95 (sold 5 days after listed)

I’ve been focusing a lot more on clothing lately, and bought very few toys at yard sales this summer for resale.  But looking at all of these sales makes me think maybe I need to get back into the toy groove.  You’ve gotta admit, they’re way more fun!

What has been selling well for you recently?  I’d love to hear about it!

BOLO: Super Why

December 12, 2014 by Kari @ She Thrifts 6 Comments

I’ve mentioned this one before, right?  I thought for sure I had, but I just did a quick search of my blog and am not finding it anywhere.  Super Why is a cartoon shown on PBS.  Both figures below are about 6″ tall, jointed, and show some normal wear from past play (which I of course included in the description).  I found them both at Value Village about a week apart, and both sold separately in less than a day.

Alpha Pig
Paid: $1.49, Sold: $29.95 (in less than a day)
Whyatt
Paid: $2.10, Sold: $29.95 (in less than a day)

Check out other Super Why completeds HERE.
