Here are a few of my sales from the past couple weeks.

As always, I love to sell loveys!

Paid: $2.99 @ VV, Sold: $34.95 (8 days after listed)

I thought this pig was super cute.

People Pals Pig Plush
Paid: $2.99 @ GW, Sold: $24.95 (a month after listed)

Circo Chevron Elephant Blanket
Paid: $1.79 @ VV, Sold: $29.95 (one month after listed)

Cutie Pie Truck Blanket
Paid: $2.99 @ VV, Sold: $29.95 (listed since June, 2016)

I really liked the design of the blanket below!

Circo Cloud Blanket

I still sell costumes fairly consistently.

Kaos Skylanders Costume

Katana Suicide Squad Costume
Paid: $2.49 @ Walmart, Sold: $29.95 (listed since December, 2016)

And clothes.  Never my favorite, but still a consistent addition to the bottom line.

I really liked the dress below.  I was hoping it would sell high, but no such luck.  I sold a motorcycle dress of the same style last month for more, and a bit faster.

Chevrolet Wrap Dress
Paid: $2 @ VV, BO Accepted: $20 (sold two months after listed)

Cherokee 5X Scrubs Lot
Paid: $6 @ VV, Sold: $29.95 (8 days after listed)

A couple s-l-o-w sales

Kristen Blake Green Coat
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $34.95 (a year after listed)

London Fog Coat
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $34.95 (a year after listed)

St. John Brown Pants
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $33 (on 7 day auction)

I love these hats.  I bought about 15 of them last year (in both tan and blue).  I paid 75¢ each, and have sold them for $19.95 each.  The tan ones sold quickly.  I’ve sold three of the blue hats in the last couple weeks, and only have one left.

NWT Columbia Blue Olympics Cap
Paid: $0.75, Sold: $19.95

And a couple random sales.

The Lego figures below were in a bag I picked up at a thrift.
I gave some of the Legos to my boys, and sold these.

Series 3 Lego Figures
Paid: $2.44 @ VV, Sold: $24.95 (5 days after listed)

These were listed for-ev-er!

NEW 6 packages 3.5″ x 5″ photo album pages
Paid: $5.94 @ VV, Best Offer Accepted: $35.00 (listed since 2015)

As you can see, not everything I sell is a quick flip.  I’d rather not hang on to things indefinitely, but it does seem like everything will sell . . . eventually.

Favorite Five Friday ~ January 23, 2015

January 24, 2015 by Kari @ She Thrifts 5 Comments

I’m resurrecting a post I used to share of my favorite five sales of the week – with intentions (but not promises) of sharing on future Fridays as well.

Here are my five favorite sales from the last week(ish):

I’ve sold three different lots of Jake PVC toys recently (one just before Christmas, two in the last week or so).

Jake & the Neverland Pirates PVC Toy Lot
Paid: $2 @ consignment sale, Sold: $19.95 (listed since Nov)

I thought this outfit was so darn cute!

Paid: $1ish @ ys, Sold: $24.95 (listed since July)

I bought a LOT of costumes at several different stores after Halloween, all at 90% off.  They aren’t flying out the door, but I sell a few every month.

Shark Costume
Paid: $1.99 @ Wal-Mart, Sold: $24.95 (listed since Nov)

I knew this was a winner as soon as I saw it.  A cow and “busy bee” seem like a random combination, and I figured there couldn’t be too many out there like this.

Circo Cow Lovey
Paid: $4 @ consignment store, Sold: $39.95 (in less than a day)

I picked up this Lego set as a birthday gift for a son of some close friends of ours two years ago.  For some reason we ended up not making it to the party (sick kid maybe?), so it’s been hanging around, wrapped, for the last two years.  This year when the same kid’s birthday rolled around I pulled out this gift thinking we’d give it to him, but something in the back of my mind made me think I should look it up to see if the value had increased.  (We did make it to the birthday party this year, but took a different gift.)

Iron Man Lego Set (brand new)
Paid: $15ish? @ Fred Meyer?, Sold: $74.95 (one day later)

A Bloggy Friend Thank You!

November 13, 2014 by Kari @ She Thrifts 9 Comments

A few weeks ago Margaret @ Live Like No One Else posted about how she saved some money by checking prices on both walmart.com and in the store.  Which is great advice!

My oldest turns 7 today (!!!).  We had a party for him last weekend, and he ended up with some serious birthday money.  He and my husband wandered the Wal-Mart Lego aisle, and decided he would use all of his money on one big Star Wars Lego set he’s been wanting that comes with a whopping $90 price tag!  I’m w-a-y too cheap to buy a gift like that (even for my own kid), which I guess is why he had to buy it for himself.  Anyway, I had this niggling memory of her blog post of finding a cheaper price online vs. the store.  I looked up the Lego set on my phone, and whaddya know, the online price was $75!  Still a lot, but a decent discount.  I found a couple employees talking together, and they both agreed that they couldn’t price match their own website (which I think is kind of crazy, but whatever), so we ended up ordering the SW lego set online, and he was able to get a second smaller superhero Lego set as well for his $90.

Ordering it online was a win/win/win for me.  Lower price, delivered to our home, and I get all of the packaging materials to reuse in the future (like my free gift with purchase!)  I’m not the only one who can get as excited about the packaging of my orders as I am about the actual items I receive, am I?

Also, as you’re shopping online don’t forget to make your purchases via Swagbucks to earn some additional points.  I love getting rewarded for things I would be doing anyway.  I got a couple hundred points from the purchase, just one more bonus in this whole scenario.

So, thank you, Margaret, for the tip.  It worked out great for us!

I have hope!

May 15, 2013 by Kari @ She Thrifts 1 Comment

That my consignment sale stuff will sell.

Last night was NOT a roaring success.  It was the volunteer presale, and 2 (!) of my 115ish items sold.  Nothing to get worked up over, I know.  But, I just went to the consignor presale.  Holy sticker shock.  The majority of the items I would have been interested in were way above my price range.  And most of those weren’t marked to be reduced as the sale progresses.  It gives me hope that people may come across my items and be thrilled – because in comparison they will look like a steal!

I did pick up a few things for the purpose of resale.   Some of which I overpaid for (vs. yard sale prices), but what can I say, I got swept up in the fun.  And I like knowing that my purchases will show up on someone’s sale list tonight, and make them happy.  🙂

Bob the Builder Duplo bag w/ figures: $5.00
Good Luck Care Bear: $1.50
Adult Goofy Hat: $4.00

Bag of Potato Heads: $6.00
Kids guitar (for my youngest): $6.00
Bag of Peek a Boo blocks: $5.00
Thomas Train Set: $4.50

I realized after I left that I never even got around to looking at books, movies, etc.  The sale runs through Saturday.  I plan to head back on Friday evening when consignors can shop the 50% off sale.  Maybe some other good finds will be unearthed by then.

Favorite (not) Five (not) Friday, 3/2/13

March 3, 2013 by Kari @ She Thrifts Leave a Comment

It’s been several weeks since I did one of these posts.  Here are some of my favorite sales from the end of February.

I picked this up at GW several months ago, and it has been riding around in the trunk of the car my husband drives ever since.  We swapped cars last week, and since it was home I took it out and snapped some photos.  I was just planning to list it on Craigslist, but when I searched for it on eBay I couldn’t find any.  I thought I would try listing it high there too, and it sold in less than a day.

Little People Ride On Firetruck
Paid: $4.99 @ GW
Sold: $49.95 – shipping

I dug out my other tote of PVC toys and have been working on getting them listed.  When I looked this item up on eBay I could only find one other listed for $50 + shipping, but didn’t find any that had actually sold.  I listed it lower, and it sold overnight – maybe I listed it too low!

Sleeping Beauty PVC Toy
Paid: $5 for a tote full at a yard sale last summer
Sold: $19.95 – shipping

I listed this lot around the same time, and it also sold in about a day.

7 Cinderella PVC lot
Paid: $5 for a tote full at a yard sale last summer
Sold: $19.95 – shipping

And this one:

Cinderella PVC Mouse Lot
Paid: $5 for a tote full at a yard sale last summer
Sold: $12.50 – shipping
This was in a bag of Legos I picked up somewhere (VV maybe?)
I pulled this piece out to sell separately.

Lego Conveyor Belt
Paid: ? @ ?
Sold: $16.50 – shipping

This sold in about a day . . . twice.  The first buyer never paid.  The second did – it was my first time shipping to Puerto Rico (no different than shipping to the U.S.)  His head was HUGE!  It was hard to find a box that it would fit in.

Stewie/Family Guy Plush
Paid: $1.49 @ Value Village
Sold: $29.95 – shipping

No idea when/where I picked this up.  It ended up in the eBay pile when I was cleaning out my son’s drawers recently.

Lands’ End Bunting/Snowsuit
Paid: ? @ ?
Sold: $19.95 – shipping

This guy was big – approx 22″ tall.

Bright Heart Raccoon Care Bear Cousin
Paid $2 at local thrift store.
Sold $34.95 + shipping to Australia

Little People Camping Set.  This was darned cute, and in great condition!
Little People Camping Set
Paid: ? @ yard sale
Sold: $29.95 – shipping

I also ran a sale in my store for the last couple weeks of February.  20% off a bunch of stuff.  I’d guess between 10-15 of those items sold.  Nothing super exciting – just nice to clear out some inventory that’s been hanging on for a long time.

Friday Favorites, 12/21/12

December 22, 2012 by Kari @ She Thrifts 6 Comments

Here are a few of my favorite sales from the last couple weeks:

I always look in the baggies of toy dishes at Value Village to see if there is anything good amongst the blah and rubbish.  A few months back I found a bag with 2 Baby Alive bottles that make sucking and burping sounds.  I finally got around to listing them, and both sold within just a few days.  (The rest that is not eBay worthy I will put into my own baggy and re-sell at an upcoming consignment sale.)

Baby Alive bottle with sounds
Paid $3ish for the bag; Sold $14.95/ea – shipping
Still have extras to sell at consignment sale

I thought these were really cute!

John Deere play keys
Paid $0.25 at consignment-ish sale; Sold $14.95 – shipping

I had read somewhere that Caboodles sell well.  I found one a couple weeks ago at Value Village, and a second one the next week.  I finally listed both the same day.  A smaller one instantly had a bunch of watchers, but this bigger one was the first to sell.

Vintage Caboodle
Paid $5.24; Sold $49.95 – shipping

I love finding Thomas Duplos!  I actually have a bunch I need to get listed.  My goal was to get them all listed before Christmas, but alas, it did not happen.  Almost all those that I did list have sold.

James Duplo Train
Paid $40 for a huge lot at a yard sale last summer
Sold James for $24.95 – shipping

I am a plush lover who cannot be bothered with Beanie Babies.  They have never seemed like they were worth the effort.  This guy, however, I will make an exception for.  He’s so cute!  He was the “extra” in a bag from Value Village.

Boo-Hoo Halloween Owl Beanie Baby
Paid $1ish?; Sold $17.50 – shipping

Last summer I picked up Stephenie Meyer books when I found them cheap.  I am sure I didn’t pay more than $1 for any of these, at most.  Imagine my surprise when I got the 5 together and realized I didn’t have any duplicates!  I sold them as a lot.

Stephenie Meyer Book Lot
Paid $3ish?; Sold $29.95 – shipping

For some reason I really liked this Ugly Christmas Sweater, and I actually thought about keeping it for myself.  But I knew I would never actually wear it, so to eBay it went.  My hesitation in listing it caused me to price it a tad higher than my other sweaters I was selling.

Ugly Christmas Sweater
Paid $2.50 at Rummage Sale; Sold $34.95 – shipping

I bought three plush last month at a consignment sale – Simba, Eeyore, and Minnie below.  I paid $7 total for the three.  Minnie was the last to sell (in less than a month), for a grand total of $94.85.

Minnie Mouse Plush (2011 Collectible)
Paid $2 at consignment sale; Sold $24.95 – shipping

This summer I bought a couple totes full of PVC Disney characters.  One I sorted out, photographed, and listed.  The other is still waiting for my attention.  The lot below is one of the last I had left from the first tote.  I paid $7 for the tote, and have sold at least 10 different lots for $15-$20 each.  The organizing and photographing, etc, took some work, but it’s been worth it.

Princess & the Frog PVC lot
Paid  (maybe $0.50?); Sold $17.50 – shipping

These PVC toys I found in a baggie at Value Village.  They are tiny.  They took a couple months to finally sell.

Vintage Strawberry Shortcake PVC lot
Paid $3ish?; Sold $25.95 – shipping

Jabba the Hutt Lego – BOLO

November 7, 2012 by Kari @ She Thrifts 5 Comments

If, at yard sales, you are brave enough to dig through the boxes of discarded McD’s toys and the like, or are eyeballing a huge lot of Legos and trying to decide if it’s worth the money – keep an eye out for this guy:

Jabba the Hutt Lego Minifig
(photo borrowed from eBay listing)
He can sell for $40+ all by himself!
P.S. He’s another one I’d put on the misspelled list.  Jabba/Jaba, Hutt/Hut.
