To make myself feel better, I finally tackled one of the many things that I’ve been procrastinating in my eBay world, and set up my first sale! Most of my plush is now 20% off, running over the next three days. I included older and newer inventory. I’d like to clear some stuff out, so I have room to put the new items I hope to find this summer as I yard-sale. I’ll report back on whether or not it has any affect on sales. Fingers crossed.
Consignment sale totals are up for the second full day. I’ve now sold 123 of 390 items. Only 38 items sold today. I’m feeling rather discouraged, like this was all a big waste of time. One day left (the half-off day) and I’ve only sold about 1/3 of what I took. Most of my toys, books and movies have sold. Clothes, not so much. I think part of the problem is that I had a lot of small sizes to get rid of (between 0-12 months) because that is what my youngest has recently outgrown. And there is a lot of “competition” in these sizes – so many people bring them. Also, I think part of the issue is that this is only the second time this sale has been held in my town, and the last time was over a year ago. People just aren’t sure what it’s all about yet. And, although it is held at the state fairgrounds, it’s in a kind of odd, out of the way building that I have never been to for anything else. I wonder if people are having a hard time finding it.
I priced almost all of my clothes low, and marked them for discount too, so here’s hoping they all go flying out the door tomorrow. I went back and shopped a bit this evening (consignors got a jump on the 50% off sale) and I noticed that a lot of the consignors chose NOT to discount their items on the last day. I thought that was kind of odd, but hopefully it means my stuff will have less competition tomorrow!
That’s it. That’s my vent. It’s over. For now.
Now I have to figure out how to ship it. Ugh. Sigh.
Sold: $34.99 – shipping
Sold: $21.75 – shipping
Sold: $32.99 – shipping
|Paid ? ($15 for an entire year’s subscription)
Sold: $9.99 – shipping
Sold: $32.99 – shipping
I hope everyone else is having fun hitting the sales. If you find anything good leave me a note – let me live vicariously through you. 🙂 For me, it’s back to listing, listing, listing the stuff I already have . . . .
And for the last update – zero sales all weekend! I opened my store not quite two weeks ago, and up through yesterday I had sales every day, and multiple sales most days. It was a nice steady rhythm. Not sure if this is my first “black hole” or just the way things go sometimes. Hopefully the sales pick up again soon.
Off I go – to prep more consignment goodies!
|(The mug in question. Cute, right?)|
In regards to the mug . . . not only did she buy the two she mentioned to begin with, but she buys every one that is listed! Apparently a daughter-in-law bought one as a gift for the purchaser’s husband, and he LOVED it. So she started buying back-ups. He’s broken a couple so far, and she already has 5 more stockpiled. 🙂 She also mentioned that they are in their 70s and have been married for 56(!) years. I wish them the best.
So how did my first week go? Well, I had sales every single day! That was definitely exciting for me. I ended up with 16 sales for the week. I have more than paid for my subscription fees for the month. That’s good news.
What did I sell? Plush (7), children’s clothes (4), toys (2) and a couple other misc items. So far, I am very pleased with how my store is performing.
