Favorite Flips Friday, 2/24/17

February 24, 2017 by Kari @ She Thrifts Leave a Comment

This week was pretty ho-hum, but here are a few things that headed out the door this week:

Winnie the Pooh & Friends bean bag plush are everywhere, come with more themes/designs than I could begin to list, and generally don’t sell for much.  Christopher Robin can be an exception.

NWT Christopher Robin Bean Bag Plush
Paid: $1.99 @ GW, Sold: $22.95 (18 days after listed)

More Folkmanis.  I know I’ve said it before, but I love these.  Not all are worth $$ though, so I always look them up.  Also, as you’ll see below, they’re not all super fast flips like the one I shared last week.

Folkmanis Jack Russell Terrier Puppet
Paid: $1.39 @ VV, Sold: $24.95 (listed since May, 2016)

Another slow to sell.  I got some low offers right out of the gate (and I didn’t even have BO on it), but I waited for the price I wanted.

NWT Huey & Louie Disney Store Plush
Paid: $2 @ church rummage sale, Sold: $29.95 (listed since March, 2016)

Plush are my favorite, but less reliable.  Clothes keep the money coming in more consistently.

NWT J Jill 100% Linen Black Dress
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $29.95 (within a week or so of listing)

NWT Brooks Brothers Linen Skirt Suit
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $49.95 (listed since October, 2016)

   Green With Envy Black Jacket
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $39.95 (listed since June, 2016)

I got the following e-mail from the buyer of the above jacket this afternoon:

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW HOW HAPPY I AM!!!! THANK YOU, IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THAT COAT FOR A WHILE, I HAVE IT IN OLIVE AND ITS MY FAVORITE COAT. SO HAPPY. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND. LEFT 5 STAR FEEDBACK BECAUSE OF THE GIGANTIC SMILE ON MY FACE! WEARING IT NOW. THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Yay for happy buyers!  It’s fun to know you’ve made someone’s day brighter.

Favorite 5+ Friday, 2/17/17

February 17, 2017 by Kari @ She Thrifts Leave a Comment

Here are some of my favorite sales of the past week.

I feel like I have to include clothing in this list because it is something I sell regularly, although it’s not my *favorite* thing to sell.  I thought this jacket was really cute though, great for spring or Easter.

Ann Taylor LOFT jacket
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $24.95 (listed since Dec)

Build a Bear can still be one of my weaknesses.  I love picking up the outfits, but they’re often not worth the amount of time I put into listing them.  This is probably my best BABW sale recently.

Build-A-Bear Merida (Brave) Outfit
Paid: $3 @ ys, Sold: $24.95 (listed since June)

I was super excited about these when I picked them up!  I couldn’t believe someone was selling their P&P collection, obviously some effort was spent in collecting them and all the books looked/felt new.  I knew it wouldn’t be a super fast flip, but I hope the person who receives them loves them!

Pride & Prejudice PBK Book Lot
Paid: $3 total @ ys, Sold: $34.95 (listed since June)

Costumes sell all year long!

Suicide Squad Katana Teen Costume
Paid: $2.49 @ Walmart, Sold: $29.95 (listed since Dec)

This sale is most notable because someone from Germany purchased it.  I shipped it directly to him, not via GSP, but shipping was still pretty spendy.

NWT Puma Plush
Paid: $3.99 @ GW, Sold: $34.95 + international shipping (listed since Dec)

The last two items I listed two days ago, and both sold within hours!

Folkmanis Llama Puppet
Paid: $3.59 @ VV, Sold: $34.95 (less than 2 hours later)

And the frog below currently has a 100% sell-through rate, which is kinda crazy.  I listed it Wed night, it had sold by Thurs morning.  Check out completeds here.

Natural Wonders Big Frog Plush
Paid: $2.69 @ VV, Sold: $39.95 (morning after listed)

I’d love to hear about your favorite sale(s) of the week!

What Has Sold: Coats!

November 29, 2016 by Kari @ She Thrifts Leave a Comment

I noticed yesterday that the closet in my office isn’t quite so jam packed with coats as it was a month or so ago.  Below are some of the coats I have sold recently.  I paid $2/each for all of the coats below.  Some sold some in just a few days, while I know at least took one took as long as a year to sell.

Not a “hilarious” tag, but I did find a message on an item I was listing.  It makes me wonder if there have been others and I’ve just been oblivious.  Hmmm.

Fast Flips

April 25, 2016 by Kari @ She Thrifts 3 Comments

harley davidson jacket

I picked up two of these Harley Davidson black denim jackets (both NWT) for $5 each at a yard sale at the beginning of the month.  One was a size small, the other XL.

And then my family took off for CA where we played at Disneyland and Legoland for a week.  So much fun!  And I think the first time ever since I started eBaying that I put my store in vaca mode and hid my listings and had a REAL eBay break.  It was nice.

But fast forward a bit more, and we have returned home.  It is time to get busy listing.  I have about three hours on MWF mornings when both of my boys are in school.  These jackets were the first thing I listed this morning.  And by the time I had picked up my youngest from preschool at noon they had both sold for $49.95/ea.  Gotta love a fast flip.

BOLO ~ LuLaRoe

April 23, 2016 by Kari @ She Thrifts 5 Comments

lularoe

Have you heard of LuLaRoe?

My SIL told me about it a month or so ago because she was thinking about becoming a LuLaRoe consultant.  It is a direct sales company.  Not my kind of thing, but she has had amazing success in the past with Stampin’ Up and was killing it at Lia Sophia until they closed.  She has since signed up to become a rep, and there are so many people signing up right now there is a backlog/wait time to even rep for them.

Fast forward a couple weeks and what did I find at VV but THREE different LuLaRoe pieces still NWT on the clearance day.  I regret to say that I haven’t listed them yet, but I look forward to doing so soon.  Check out some completeds HERE.  A brand to look out for.

April 1, 2016 by Kari @ She Thrifts 6 Comments

Another month has come and gone.  Seriously, we’re over 1/4 of the way through the year already!  The weather has been incredibly nice here over the last week too, sunshine every day.  It’s almost yard sale season, yay!

Here are a few of my sales from March.  I sold a bunch of clothes, no surprise.

This Superman toy had been listed since 2014!  I had it listed at $40, but revised the price during my inventorying, and it finally sold.

superman
Return of Superman Action Figure
Paid: $3 @ ys, Sold: $29.95 (5 days after price was revised)

I bought several of these tumblers from the Disney Store a couple years ago, and they sold very quickly.  For some reason I had one left (maybe I was thinking about keeping it for myself?) but it was just sitting around so I finally listed it.

monsters university tumbler
Monsters University Tumbler

Inventory Inventoried + February Sales

March 28, 2016 by Kari @ She Thrifts 6 Comments

It has been a crazy couple months!  Busy busy.  In Dec/Jan/Feb I was given 2000 free bonus listings each month, so I spent quite a bit of time going through old inventory, ending listings, “selling as similar”, updating prices, adding best offer, as well as just tossing a few items in the donate pile.  I didn’t get a lot of new items listed in February, but I did make it through my dozens of totes of active inventory.  So, yay for that.

I had some decent sales this month too, including a couple mugs:

snow white mugholly hobbie mug
I probably paid around $3/each for them, and they both had a selling price of $34.95.  Holly Hobbie had been listed since July 2015, and the Snow White Mug since 2013!!

I had a few plush sales.

I couldn’t believe I found this guy as the half-off color at GW!

little mermaid dog plush
Little Mermaid Dog
Paid: $0.99 @ GW, Sold $34.95 (listed since December 2015)

mervyns gorilla plushMervyn’s Floppy Friends Gorilla Plush
Paid: $3.99 @ GW, Sold: $42.95 (17 days after listed)

I had the Build-A-Bear Disney princess dresses listed for quite awhile with no takers.  I found the princess bear at VV after the dresses had been listed for a few months and added it to the lot (keeping the price the same) and it finally sold.

babw princessBABW Disney bear, 5 dresses, tiara, shoes, etc.
Paid: $12ish total?, Sold: $49.95 (listed since April 2015)

While plush will always be my favorite thing to sell, my most profitable sales now come from clothes.  I like selling coats, although the margins on them aren’t usually as good because they cost more to ship.

jones ny coat
Jones New York Jacket
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $29.95 (17 days after listed)

tahari trench
Tahari Coat
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $34.95 (11 days after listed)

monaco coat
Club Monaco Jacket
Paid: 2 @ VV, Sold: $39.95 (15 days after listed)

And some more clothes:

I think this is only the second St. John item I have ever come across.  I probably priced it too low because it sold in less than a day.

st john tank
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $29.95

lei jumpsuit
LEI Denim Jumpsuit
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: 34.95 (listed since December 2015)

tommy overalls
Tommy Hilfiger women’s overalls
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $49.95 (listed since January 2016)

I also sold a bunch of clothes in the $20-$25 price range.
The most interesting of which was this jacket:

Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold $24.95 (19 days after listed)

September Sales

October 6, 2015 by Kari @ She Thrifts 9 Comments

Sorry for the lack of posts recently.  I think about writing fairly often, but it rarely makes it to the top of my neverending to-do-list . I’m sure you all know how it is!

But, I thought I would quickly check in with some of September’s sales.  I rarely have big, amazing sales, but try to make up for it by having more, smaller, consistent sales.  The following all fall into what I would consider my “bread and butter” categories.

Loveys

LG lovey blanketLittle Giraffe black/white polka dot lovey
Paid: $1 FB, Sold: $29.95 (listed since May, 2015)

I still love to sell loveys!  I have been more actively looking for them this year because they are consistent sellers.  Unless they cost less than $1, I will usually look them up quickly, and make sure I can sell them for $25+.  Not all do, but there are plenty that will.  They can sit for awhile though, because you are waiting for just the right buyer.  I get the most enthusiastic thank you e-mails from parents of children who have lost their loveys, and are desperate to replace them!

Toys

la grande familleLa Grande Famille Soft Ball
Paid: $1ish @ consignment sale, Sold: $29.95 (listed since May, 2015)

I am starting to move away from toys a bit, but will still pick them up if the price is right, they are small-ish, and won’t be too much of a pain to ship.  This particular ball actually sold twice.  The first time I woke up to the sale AND a snippy e-mail asking me to cancel their purchase because they decided $30 was just too much for the small ball.  Whatever.  I refunded, relisted, and it sold again a couple weeks later to a very happy buyer.

Footie PJs lots

footie pjs6 pairs of footie PJs
Paid: $4ish @ ys, Sold: $34.95 (listed since July, 2015)

I like to buy footie PJs to sell in lots.  If they are size 24 months or smaller I will sell them in lots of 6 for $34.95 and ship them in a padded flat rate mailer.  I will pay up to $1 per pair if they are in really good condition.  My preference is to find all 6 pairs at the same yard sale, but if I can pick up a pair of PJs for a quarter and they are in really nice condition, it’s hard to pass them up!  In that case I will save them for a future lot.

Ski clothes

nickel ski pantsTriple Nickel Boys Ski Pants
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $24.95 (6 days after listing)

I had great aspirations of having a store fully stocked with a bunch of ski clothes this winter.  But instead I’ve been selling ski clothes all summer long!  I know, it’s a good problem to have.  Now that we are heading towards winter it will become harder to find them as a discount tag at the thrifts, but I’ll still pick them up when I can.  I am *really* picky on condition though – I’ll only buy them if they’re nearly like new.

Women’s Clothes

pink cabi jacketNWT CAbi pink denim jacket
Paid: $2 @ VV, Sold: $34.95 (listed since July, 2015)

Clothes will never be my favorite thing to sell, listing them can get a bit tedious.  But I can’t deny that it is also consistent money.  I visit one of my local thrifts once a week on the discount tag day and check through most of the clothing racks.  It has definitely become a bigger focus over the summer.

Plush

Plush, on the other hand, will probably always be my favorite.  Here are a few of my recent plush sales.

wile plushWile E. Coyote plush (still a consistent seller for me,
and if you find the Roadrunner it usually sells even better!)
Paid: $1.99? @ VV, Sold: $24.95 (listed since July, 2015)

pink frog plushJumbo (36″) pink frog plush
Paid: $2ish @ VV, Sold: $34.95 (listed since July, 2015)

coral reef plush
FAO Schwarz Coral Reef Plush
Paid: $3 @ ys, Sold: $39.95 (listed since August, 2015)

cpk
Vintage CPK Doll
Paid: $10 FB, Best Offer Accepted: $65.00

I am pretty clueless when it comes to Cabbage Patch dolls, but I do know that the ones with the cloth faces (like this one) are often older and worth the most money.

I’ve also been selling a lot of Halloween items, but I am saving them for a different post.  What has been selling well for you?
