Since this is my year to resell online full-time, I am finally going to dip my toe in the Etsy pool. This is something I have been thinking about doing for years (and years and years). Honestly, Etsy kinda intimidates me. And I am not super into vintage … except when I am. Which is usually vintage plush. I bought a lot of vintage plush from my cousin last summer when she was having a yard sale. Most are currently for sale in my eBay store, and they do sell occasionally. I’ve been thinking maybe I should cross post some of it to Etsy as a little trial run.
Of course when setting up an Etsy store one of the first things you need to know is the name of your store. To which I have given no thought. Something cute or clever or punny? That has to do with vintage, plush, love or loveys?
Gladly taking any name suggestions!! (As well as any Etsy tips you may like to pass along.)
Good luck with your store! I sold on Etsy and it wasn’t too bad, but it’s completely different than ebay. As for you store name, some simple ones come to mind like: Plush Love, Lovey Dovey Plush, Long Lost Loveys.
I’m opening an Etsy shop soon, too. I will be selling vintage items, mostly kitchen, household.
I will be naming my shop in honor of a dear friend who passed two years ago at 98. I always loved her name, Ophelia.
Here’s hoping you find your perfect name!
I’ve sold on Etsy for several years but never vintage or plush so take this with pound of salt:
Things have really changed over the past 2 years but most significantly in the last 6 months – and not to a seller’s benefit,…with more promised developments on the horizon.
I would suggest putting your efforts into a Shopify store instead of Etsy. You will have much more control (over your business, money and decisions) especially if you brand yourself. Choose your name, register your domain name, get an Instagram and Pinterest account under those, name your PM closet the same thing – this way your buyers will find you across the board. I was one of the early Etsy adopters, led local groups because I believed in the cause but I look back and wish I’d started out in this promoting my business instead of theirs, I’ve now done all of these tasks and despite being closed for several weeks due to a move, stand to have a very good holiday season.
Hope this helps! 😊
When you do settle on a name, carry it through the rest of your platforms. I had “Mink and Pearls” as my Etsy store and someone grabbed it for their EBay store name.
