Poshmark Progress

May 8, 2019 by Kari @ She Thrifts 5 Comments

I remember posting about joining Poshmark once upon a time … I just looked and it was all the way back in June! I am still listing and selling there, but it can be so slow. I just took a look at my stats, and since I started selling in June I have sold 92 things. Which isn’t nothing … but when you think about it, and how many days I have been active on PM … it really isn’t a lot.

Listing on PM takes almost no time because I cross-post from eBay. I usually need to square my photos (I use Pixlr, it works great) and from there it is just cut and paste. Lickety split.

Fun fact: almost 1/3 of the sales I have made on PM have been costumes. I bought a LOT after Halloween last year and immediately cross-posted them all, which has paid off.

I became a Posh Ambassador a few months back. I actually had all of the requirements in place to earn that status several months before with the exception of having actually made a PM purchase myself.

(Actually, randomly, I did make a PM purchase shortly after joining and the package was lost by the USPS! I never got it. I waited a couple weeks hoping to receive the package, but no dice. When I let PM know I had never received the package (as verified by the tracking) my money was promptly refunded.)

Fast forward several months I made a second purchase which did actually arrive, I left a love note, and voila! Posh Ambassador. I’m not sure if it actually affects my sales at all, but it definitely affects my number of followers. I get many, many more followers now than I did previously.

Since the beginning of the year I have been keeping track of my number of listings and followers, mostly as a curiosity to see how it progresses.

February 1, 2019 and March 1, 2019 stats

April 1, 2019 and May 1, 2019 stats

I try to be active on PM every day. Most days I create three new listings.

I share to parties as appropriate. I share my own listings and follow and share the listings of others. I try to do this every day, but I also try to only do this in chunks of time that I wouldn’t be doing anything else. (For example, my five minute walk from my car in to work, my breaks at work, riding in the car when my husband is driving.) I try not to let PM sharing invade my real life or online working hours because if I let it, it could TAKE OVER!

I would really like to get to the point where I could consistently have one PM sale every day. That doesn’t seem like too much to ask, does it? I would be happy to take any advice from those who also sell on PM. What have you done to help increase your own sales? Please share!

Hello. I occasionally check your page to see your progress and commented before. Poshmark has truly changed and it definitely is a learning curve. In general I list the trendier stuff on poshmark. Trendy is such a subjective word but basically anything that has a boho or chic aesthetic is what I mean. For sales there it happens in waves for me. I personally think it’s because the customer there really has the mindset of the offer option. They just have to get a discount no matter how little.

How about you try this? before a pay day ( for most people it’s fridays) , few days before, share more than you usually do. This is so your items will get more likes then on thursday, send OTL ( offers to likers) on EVERYTHING. This usually works for me. It also bring a bunch of low ballers but it shows you are active on the app.

Thanks for the suggestions! When you send OTL do you have to do it one item at a time? (Is there a bulk way to send offers?) I hadn’t sent any offers in months so recently I have been going through my closet category by category and sending offers (dresses one day, pants another, skirts another, etc). So far it has only resulted in one sale. Sending out offers around pay day is a good idea though, I had never thought about that.

Not that I know of sending in bulk. Unfortunately I’ve been sending it one by one. It takes me almost to do my whole closet ( I have 500 items). You can try doing half your closet. I only do the 10% off then the 1.79 shipping discount. Most of my items are priced $25 and below so I don’t do a big discount. I’ve never done it by category because I have mostly tops anyways. It’s the likes that matters. Some ppl send offers immediately but I find that sending offers close to pay day helps. The offer to liker is good for 24 hours so that’s why I do it on Thursdays or early fridays. Even when it is over, you will see offers coming in. Some people forget to buy when it was sent so they will see if they can get a deal if they see it hasn’t sold.

How often to you get buyers from sending out offers?

I sent out offers on all the shorts I have listed a couple days ago, and one of the buyers sent me an offer today for the same amount I had offered, but without the shipping discount (so that ended up working out slightly better in my favor).

My understanding is that you can only send an offer to a liker once every 90 days? That’s part of the reason I am sending offers category by category so I can keep track of which likers have already gotten offers from me. I have spent time sending out offers in the past only to realize that they didn’t actually go out to anyone because I didn’t have any new likers on an item and I had too recently sent an offer to the likers I did have. (If that makes sense.) Trying to figure out how to maximize my time efficiency with PM is a tricky thing.

If you are doing eBay (I am too) and poshmark, poshmark does feel like a time sucks so I definitely understand what you are saying. I’m not sure of the buyers but notice my sales tend to happen within a few days of offers being sent. I still share once or twice a day but before offers being sent, I share more than usual.

I also drop prices by 10% if item hasn’t received the OTL. If am item has been sitting too long without a new liker, that means it’s not being sought after as much for either style or price. By dropping it by 10% CCL ( closet clear out), that means the next time I do a massive OTL, more of the likers will trigger that notification to get it. My last msg was typo, I meant to say it takes me about 2 hours to do my WHOLE store. I do not think you have to spend that much time. Sometimes I do it a span of two days. I just make sure to “share” first to mark of where I left off.

Hopefully that wasn’t too confusing. I basically have a schedule to do it without driving myself crazy. Probably 3X a month I do the OTL with a mix of CCL. This is based on how much you want to profit too. I’m pretty much happy just making my money back most of the time so most of my ASP is between $12-$20.
