I am a mama of two boys, so girls toys are pretty foreign to me. A couple months ago I picked up what I believe to be a bag of Polly Pocket toys. I’ve let them sit for too long because I wasn’t sure what exactly to do with them. A few days ago I split them into different lots, one consists of The Little Mermaid characters, one consists of Sleeping Beauty characters, and the rest is a random mix of left-overs. I did a bunch of researching, and found a couple listings of similar Polly Pockets, but not as many as I was expecting. So my question is – are Polly Pockets ever faked? Is there a knock-off brand I might purchase without realizing it isn’t the real deal? Is this something I should worry about?
Thanks for your insight – it is much appreciated!
These aren’t Polly pockets. Disney came out with a line of similar size dolls a few years ago. I’m sorry I don’t recall the name. Should be some what desirable as they no longer make them.
I think technically those aren’t “Polly Pockets”. My daughter had several sets and amazingly I still have the plastic case the Ariel set came in. They were made by Mattel. I’d be happy to email you a picture of the case it has the name of the set and pictures of the pieces.
I know the really old Polly pockets (bluebird toys) did a Disney line worth a pretty penny. Those look real but as the general rule Polly pockets haven’t done well for me.
You can try looking up “Fashion Polly”. They’re bigger than the traditional Polly Pocket dolls and they have stretchy clothes you can use to dress them. Mattel made them and so did Disney. My daughter loved them when she was little!
I have sold many groups of these as I do have a little girl. They are not polly pocket but are the same size and polly pocket clothes fit them, but not all shoes do. When I list them I put “Polly Pocket Sized Disney Princess Dolls” in the Title. Collectors of Polly pockets will know that these are not the same. I have never had an issue selling them. If you ever find ones with more than one prince in them, pick them up. The Princes are worth more than the Princesses.
If you are going to list these on eBay, don’t use any name brand to describe another brand. They’ll ding you for, I think what they call, word spamming. If your items are indeed “Polly Pocket”, you can use that name. If they are “Disney princesses”, you can use that description. But, if they are generic or you don’t know what they are, you can use “princesses”, “prince”, “tiny dolls”, but you can’t use brand names when describing generic items. It could get you suspended. {But, you probably know this.}
I sent you an email, but I’m not sure that it went through.
If you google Polly Pocket Little Mermaid and scroll through the images you will find a case with the dolls that match yours. They don’t call them Polly Pockets, but they were sold at the Disney Parks.
Also, it looks like some of the items from your third set of pictures would go into the first two sets.
They look quite similar to the Disney mini/little kingdom range…. I wouldn’t call them polly pockets
