What I’ve sold via GSP.

February 10, 2017 by Kari @ She Thrifts 9 Comments

I am always curious to hear what others have sold via GSP.  What do international buyers want so much that they are willing to paying for an item + the costly shipping charges?  Here are the items that I have sold via GSP recently:

I have actually sold multiple Ikea plush internationally in the last couple years.  I like to buy Ikea plush, but they can be really hit and miss.  I’ve come across some that are selling for less than $10.  On the other hand, I’ve sold some for $60-$75.  In my experience the more realistic-looking plush animals have the potential to be worth more, the more character-y looking plush aren’t usually worth picking up.  But there are always exceptions, so I look up every Ikea plush I come across.

Ikea Bear
Paid: $2.99 @ VV, Sold: $34.95

I went to a yard sale last summer that was the remnants of a used bookstore.  They probably had thousands of paperback books in boxes, all for a quarter each.  It was kinda overwhelming.  Most weren’t in great shape.  This was the only book I picked up there.

Doc Hollywood Paperback Book
Paid: $0.25 @ ys, Sold: $13.75 (on sale)

I paid full retail for this votive holder at a PartyLite party a friend hosted years ago, because of course I felt like I had to buy something.  It’s pretty, but years later it was still sitting unused in the box it came in.

PartyLite Tealite Holder
Paid: (retail price) @ PartyLite Party, Sold: $19.95

I SUPER DUPER loved this show!  Still feel a bit resentful that it was canceled when/how it was.  And that they have only ever released the first season on DVD.  Again I paid retail for this because I bought it as a gift for someone, then decided to give something else instead.  I lost money on this one in the whole scheme of things, since it wasn’t originally purchased with the intent to resell.

American Dreams, Season 1
Paid: ($20ish/full retail), Sold $14.95

Build A Bear Brown Bunny
Paid: $1.39 @ VV, Sold: $24.95

Assassin’s Creed Teen Costume
Paid: $2.49 @ Walmart, Sold: $44.95

Plush Creations Turtle
Paid: $0.25 @ ys, Sold: $14.95

  Kellytoy Plush Cow
Paid: $0.99 @ VV, Sold: $14.20 (on sale)

Do you sell via GSP?  If so, what kinds of things actually sell for you?

I recently sold a 6000 piece puzzle through GSP for $129 to someone in Mexico, some K’nex for $50 to GB, and some comic Books for $11 and Silverware for $30 to Canada. The knex buyer didn’t ask for combined shipping and bought 5 different lots, spent more than $100 on shipping between my shipping fees and GSP shipping fees. I refunded him as much as I could on that even though he didn’t ask. I love the GSP program, some of our best sales go over seas, and it is hassle free.

Wow, over $100 for a puzzle. What a great sale! Do you remember what brand it was?

I agree, GSP makes it very easy on us.

It was a Schmidt Puzzle. I think it was made in Germany.

I find that I sell (what I consider) the strangest things GSP.
I sold a 12 inch Miss Piggy Plush to someone in the UK, who paid $25 in shipping when the plush was $20. Unless the person was OBSESSED with Miss Piggy, it’s odd to me. I sold some vintage Chinese figurines to someone in Finland last month, and the person paid $50+ in shipping and import fees.

I feel like I usually sell plush or other random items too. Which makes sense I guess, that random item must be hard to find and EXACTLY what they want if they’re willing to pay all the shipping/fees.

I sold a four ounce tube of Dr Oz naturals facial mask. I think it was 3.99 and shipping was about twenty. Crazy.

I sell very few things GSP. I actually do not give any other international options other than GSP. When I do have a sale it is almost always for some weird item that is priced high. I assume they are just looking for that particular type of item and I happen to be the one who has it. Wish I could get comfortable with adding other international options. Funny because when I first started selling on Ebay 14 years ago I sold worldwide. Things weren’t even half as advanced and smooth as Ebay is now! Not sure why I don’t. Maybe I will try it out again. More sales would be awesome! Wish I had your eye and luck in the plush department. It’s everywhere but I have no idea what most of them are so research is very difficult.

I sometimes have people contact me via eBay asking if I will ship their items directly to them instead of GSP. If it is to Canada or most European countries, or if the buyer has a solid purchase history, I will usually do it. I do purchase extra insurance for those sales though via Shipsavers.

Plush will always be my favorite! I certainly pick up duds too though, and with a few exceptions plush is usually more of a long tail item. Which doesn’t bother me, but probably doesn’t work for everyone.
