I’ve had 16 sales total over at Bonanza. I’ve done nothing except import listings, so everything I sell there I look at as a bonus. So far, so good.
Except.
Yesterday I got an e-mail from a potential Bonanza buyer about a plush that I had removed from my eBay listings when working on my inventorying. It was an older listing, and an item that was in rougher shape than I would pick up today. I ended the listing on eBay, tossed the plush in with items to be taken to the next consignment sale, and didn’t think any more of it. Until the e-mail I received yesterday. Which led me to take a look at my Bonanza account.
Upon closer inspection I noticed a few weird things.
#1: Only around 600 of my 1000ish eBay listings are actually in my Bonanza booth.
#2: Photos obviously aren’t all importing correctly. Some listings only have one or two photos out of the many included on eBay, some of the clothes have defaulted to the size tag as the main photo (obviously not what I have it set to on eBay), some have no photos at all.
#3: **Most worrying of all** It seems that if I manually end an eBay listing (done a few times when I decided to purge an item when inventorying, I sold something listed on eBay on CL instead, or an item got too near an expiration date) it didn’t update the listing as unavailable on Bonanza. I went through my Bonanza booth (for the first time ever) page by page and probably deleted around a dozen items that were still listed as available that actually were not.
I know I’m lucky no one on Bonanza actually purchased one of those dozen items.
But am I going to give up Bonanza? Nope, not at this point.
Honestly, I’m putting zero effort into my booth and I really do think of each sale as a bonus. If at some point I run into a snafu with a buyer I may reconsider, but at this time I am going to keep plowing ahead. I may see if I can figure out how to delete and then re-import all of my items in hopes that it includes more of my listings and possibly fixes some of the photo issues. And in the future I will try to remember to delete any listings I manually end on eBay. Other than that, I’m not going to sweat it.
Are you on Bonanza? How is it going for you?
I was on Bonanza but I recently put everything on Bonanza on vacation because of issues I was having with free shipping and duplicate listings. I was deleting everything I sold on ebay but I wasn’t aware at times that there was a duplicate listing on Bonanza so a listing still existed even though I’d deleted the listing. I sold several things on Bonanza in the last year but right now I’m kind of scared off and don’t have anything listed.
After months of no traffic and no sales, I pulled everything out of my booth. I’m glad because there have been a few posts about problems with the site. It’s too bad. I was hoping it was the next big thing. Oddly enough, my ebay sales are returning whereas late last year they were totally dead like my store didn’t even exist. Now I just have to find some inventory to take advantage of my “light” being back on or whatever strange phenomenon is happening right now.
I love Bonanza. I sold something last night again. I think what we need to do is to manually update our booth every so often. But definitely no reason to vacation your booth or close it. I know some people deleted everything and reuploaded. But fortunately, I have everything set up correctly now (had 1 issue in the beginning with free shipping on a pretty heavy item). But I guess it would make sense to go through each page. Need to remember to do that.
