I got my yard sale fix today, for the first time in ages.
We’ve been having some beautiful weather here over the last week, and we woke up to another sunny morning today. I decided to get online and check and see if there were any yard sales happening. Indeed I found a few, so I loaded up the boys and we went to check out a fundraiser rummage sale happening at a nearby middle school.
We found some goodies, including some plush, American girl and Seuss books, a bunch of peek-a-boo blocks, a couple bags of PVC toys, and a set of Remington wax hot rollers. I haven’t gotten around to photographing these items yet.
There was a yard sale happening not too far away that had just started, so we headed there next to check it out. There wasn’t a lot – but what I did find was great!
The first thing that caught my eye was a big tote of Barbies. Price? $2. For everything. I don’t know a lot about Barbies, so I guess it’s time to learn. They have a mix of dates stamped on them, from the 60s to more recently. Anybody know if there is a good Barbie ID website?
Next to it I noticed a big plastic toy box full of plush. Ya know. My favorite. With a price tag that said $10 for everything. I looked through it a bit and found a bunch of NWT Disney plush. Sold! (I should be able to sell the toy box alone for more than $10 on Craigslist.)
The hitch was . . . my husband and I traded cars a few weeks ago, so I am driving a small car instead of the Jeep I usually drive. I got the toy box to my car. The guy parked next to me noticed I was struggling with it, tried to help me get it in my car, and when it was obvious it wasn’t going to happen, he offered to drive it to my house for me. The yard sale was a few miles out of town, so it took what felt like forever to get to my house, but he dutifully followed us the whole way. And when I offered him $10 along with my heartfelt thanks, he waved it off with a smile and said he would have ended up in the area yard saling anyway. Nicest. Guy. Ever.
