My husband is taking a three-day weekend, so he will be off on Friday. Usually I would still go yard saling and just get to leave the baby at home, but I am thinking about skipping the yard sales this weekend. (Gasp!) I am feeling overloaded with “stuff” to get listed. I know I should try to go on a thrifting fast, but that never seems to work for me. But maybe I could make it through the weekend if we fill it with other fun family activities. Baby steps, right?
So, I was planning to write and follow up on some eBay issues I was having, but that’s not what came out when I started typing . . .
Here is my flaky news of the day: I had a Craigslist meeting set up at 10:30 a.m. this morning. I had the morning timed out so that the boys and I would go pick blueberries with a friend, and would then be heading back in the direction of home just in time to meet the gal. Well, our blueberry picking plans got canceled last minute. And, foregoing Part A of my plan, I completely forgot about Part B. When my phone rang at 10:45 a.m. I just froze. Often, if it’s not my husband’s ringtone, I will just ignore it (depending on what I am doing). I grabbed the phone, looked at the number, and immediately started apologizing. I knew she had driven half an hour to meet me. I told her I would be there in ten minutes. I couldn’t have been more apologetic, and she couldn’t have been nicer about it. So it ended up fine, but geez I felt like a dope.
On our way home my oldest asked if we could stop at Mother Goose. It’s a small kids consignment shop. They have a ten cent basket in their clearance room (mostly filled with Happy Meal toys and the like) that he likes to paw through. We once found a Darth Vader toy in it, and that left a lasting impression on him. 🙂 And I actually like that basket too – I can almost always find an abandoned Peek-a-Boo block and/or a Little Person to add to lots I am currently “growing”.
I felt like we actually had a little time, so we stopped. We spent less than $10 and left with 3 bags of goodies. Some to keep – I picked up a couple pairs of tennis shoes in great condition for my oldest to grow into ($1/ea). And some to resell – a teeny tiny jean jacket with flowers embroidered all over it, girls cow patterned fleece Old Navy pants (25 cents/ea), an adorable Motherhood Maternity dress ($1), an Army baby sleep sack ($1) . . . And some to keep until my son forgets about them – 3 sets of Word World toys ($2).
